Single battery starts blaze that destroys factory's entire supply
This is the moment a lithium battery catches fire, igniting a blaze that rapidly spread to hundreds of other similar batteries and destroyed the factory's entire supply.
Surveillance footage shows the battery exploding after workers noticed smoke, followed by another explosion in Foshan, Guangdong, China, on October 11.
Reports indicate that a lithium battery self-ignited in a semi-finished warehouse at the factory, leading to a fire that quickly escalated.
Despite efforts to extinguish the flames, the fire consumed all the batteries.
The factory, which began production in June, reportedly incurred losses of around CNY 20,000 (GBP 2,200).
Authorities confirmed that no one was injured. They have ordered the factory to halt production for safety inspections and initiated checks across all lithium battery factories in the city.
