A driver sped away with a policeman clinging to the bonnet in India.

The motorist, identified as Mithun, was being flagged down for a routine check by Officer Prabhu but resisted authorities in Shivamogga, India, on October 24.

Mithun tried to escape the cop, but Prabhu climbed onto the vehicle to stop it without success.

Footage shows the policeman blocking the driver's path. A passing bus obscured the view, but seconds later, Prabhu was seen kneeling on the front of the car as it moved on its way.

Mithun reportedly drove 328 feet (100 metres) before stopping. Prabhu climbed down the vehicle, and Mithun fled.

An officer from Shivamogga Police said they are now searching for the driver as a case has been registered against him.
