Sun bear cub plays with giant teddy bears as she settles into her new home at Moscow Zoo
This is the heartwarming moment a tiny sun bear cub plays with her giant teddy bears as she settles into her new home at Moscow Zoo.
Footage shows the female cub entertaining herself with the white teddy bear bigger than she is.
Currently in a private enclosure, the little bear is undergoing a period of adjustment and quarantine before being introduced to the public.
The female bear arrived from Malaysia at the zoo in late August as part of a conservation programme.
She is the smallest member of the bear family and the rarest species. In the International Red List, this kind is classified as vulnerable.
Staff report that she is adjusting well to her new habitat and is enjoying a diet of dog milk formula, baby curds, fruit purees, and fresh fruits and vegetables like pumpkin, mango, bananas, and peaches.
At just seven months old, she is already a hefty 13 kilogrammes and growing fast.
Svetlana Akulova, General Director of Moscow Zoo, said: 'The little one already lets us take blood from her paw, check her blood pressure, and examine her, all while playfully climbing and interacting with her surroundings.
'Our team is keeping a close eye on her 24/7.'
