Toxic fumes from a textile factory killed two staff members in India.

Nine employees were exposed to harmful vapors at Devi Synthetics in Narol, Gujarat, on October 27.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Ravi Mohan Saini said that the toxic fumes were released when spent acid was being transferred into a tank at the factory.

'Police rushed to the scene and transported the victims to LG Hospital, where four individuals remain in critical condition on ventilators, while three others are reportedly stable,' he added.

An initial investigation revealed that the workers were exposed to hazardous fumes while handling spent acid, commonly used in the printing and dyeing industry.

Police, industrial safety officials, the Gujarat Pollution Control Board (GPCB), and Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) personnel are working diligently to determine the exact cause of the gas leak.
