This is the rare moment a rainbow formed on a tornado-shaped funnel cloud.

Footage shows the multicoloured sheen mixed with the wispy clouds as seen from a beach in La Union province, the Philippines, on October 14.

Tourist Cyril Piernas said: 'It was the first time I saw one, and it was amazing.'

A tornado-shaped cloud called a funnel cloud is a rotating, cone-shaped cloud that extends from the base of a thunderstorm but does not touch the ground.

Rainbows in tornado clouds are rare because the typical stormy conditions that produce them often block sunlight, but they are possible if conditions align.
