Wild bear rummages through temple ruins in India
This is the shocking moment a wild bear rummaged through temple ruins in India.
The sloth bear was spotted attempting to enter the building at Ranthambore National Park in Rajasthan on October 18.
Footage captured by safari guide Mukesh Bharadwaj shows the animal tugging on the metal gate to open it. However, the entrance was locked.
Mukesh said: 'During today's safari, I had the privilege of witnessing a rare and enchanting moment—a sloth bear exploring an ancient temple.
'The sight of this elusive creature in such a peaceful setting was truly unforgettable. Nature never fails to amaze,' he added.
In 1791, European zoologist George Shaw named the sloth bear for its long, thick claws and unusual teeth, mistaking it for a relative of the tree sloth due to these features. The sloth bear has a somewhat dishevelled appearance, with poor senses of sight and hearing but an excellent sense of smell.
