This is the moment frantic Chinese locals rushed to buy potatoes.

Footage shows customers crowding at the vegetable shelf, grabbing the produce and packing it into plastic bags in Guangdong, China, on October 22.

The market reportedly sold the potatoes for only 9 cents Chinese yuan, (approximately 0.010 GBP).

Potatoes have become a staple food for many Chinese people, especially in remote mountainous regions.
