US: Coast Guard Saves Father and Sons After Boat Capsizes Near Lanai
Lanai City, United States - October 26, 2024
In a daring rescue operation, the U.S. Coast Guard saved a father and his two sons from the waters south of Lanai after their boat capsized on October 26 afternoon. Responding swiftly to a distress call received at 12:10 p.m., a Dolphin helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Barbers Point located the family approximately 7 miles offshore and safely hoisted them from the water.
The mayday call, broadcast on VHF-FM channel 16, prompted an extensive search across the waters west of Maui, south of Lanai, and west of Kaho’olawe. The family is reported to be safe, marking a successful end to the high-stakes rescue effort.
