This is the terrifying moment a strong wind rips off a roof and sends it hurtling towards a group of guests at a beach bar.

CCTV footage shows several people on the beach scattering in fear as the powerful wind sends the roof flying at them in Ilha Grande, Brazil, on Thursday, October 24.

Holidaymakers manage to dodge it just in time. No injuries were reported in the incident.

Local officials stated that a storm caused damage citywide, including fallen trees, blocked roads, power outages, and roofs torn off homes.

The storm also left some city residents without power. Enel Distribuicao Rio, responsible for energy supply, stated that it activated its contingency plan and conducted remote network manoeuvres to reduce the number of affected residents.
