China's new dizzying cliff climb sees daredevils ascend 1,500 metres high via narrow ladder
Zhangjiajie’s Qixing Mountain in Hunan launched has a new rock-climbing project, drawing widespread attention. Visitors can climb along a breathtaking cliff ladder spanning 168 metres and descending 1,480 metres, surrounded by sheer cliffs and a dizzying drop below — an experience that’s left many with shaky knees.
“Via Ferrata,” meaning “iron road” in Italian, is a high-altitude climbing experience. Qixing Mountain's Via Ferrata offers a unique blend of natural scenery and extreme adventure, making it a standout attraction.
According to a staff member from Qixing Mountain, the project is currently in a beta-testing phase and open only to media and influencers. It’s expected to officially open to the public in about two weeks, with an initial ticket price set at 780 RMB, though this may be adjusted.
The cliff's total height difference is over 1,000 metres, with a vertical climb between start and end points of around 200-300 metres.
This project was developed in cooperation with the China Adventure Association, ensuring safety and professionalism, with guides from the association and complete safety equipment, including harnesses and helmets.
Visitors over 1.2 metres in height can participate, with no weight limit, but it’s not recommended for those with high blood pressure or heart conditions.
