This is the comical moment a cheeky wild bear steals a trash can from a family's front yard.

Footage shows the bear standing on its hind legs as it sniffs around a garage in Saraland, Mobile County, Alabama, on October 27. It then grabs the trash can and skillfully pulls it, making sure not to disturb the surroundings.

Homeowner Bryce Hoven said he was surprised when he found the culprit behind his stolen bin.

He added: 'The bear walked relatively far with the trash can before abandoning it.

After dragging the can approximately 20ft out of the carport, the bear tipped it over and rummaged through its contents for a late-night snack.

While bear sightings are not uncommon in Mobile County, Bryce noted that he had never witnessed a bear operate quite like this.

He added: 'They have never taken the trash like the bear did the other day.'
