This is the shocking moment a toddler narrowly avoided being crushed by a pick-up truck while he was playing on the driveway.

The one-year-old boy named Phuwit Sinsiri sneaked out of the house so his father, who was about to leave, did not notice him in Nakhon Pathom, Thailand, on October 30.

CCTV footage shows Phuwit standing at the front of the vehicle's blind spot and backing away when the truck moved forward.

Phuwit fell over before the parents finally spotted him when he heard him cry. The youngster was only a few inches away from being run over when the car halted.

His grandmother and mother rushed to take the boy while his worried father climbed down to check on him. He was unhurt.

Mother Hathairak Thananwarawat said: 'We shared the video with everyone to serve as a lesson to parents who have toddlers. Do not let them out of your sight and be careful when you are using the car.'

Phuwit was taken to hospital for a check-up by his parents, but he was not hurt.
