STORYLINE:
The Art and Tradition of Chinese Medicine (TCM) Event was held on Monday at the Palais des Nations in Geneva, Switzerland.
The event was organized by the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, the Permanent Mission of the People's Republic of China to the UN Office at Geneva (UNOG), and the UNOG.
It drew about 200 participants, notably officials from international organizations and diplomats from over 50 countries such as Brazil, Pakistan, Syria, Bangladesh, Georgia, Gambia, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, Kazakhstan and Mauritius.
The event featured several interactive zones, including acupoint massage, acupuncture experience, pulse diagnosis and Q&A sessions. Long queues lined up quickly at each area as attendees eagerly sought to experience acupuncture, relieve stress through massage and catch a glimpse of the principles of traditional Chinese medicine.
SOUNDBITE 1 (English): MIMIE SYAHRIL, Wife of the permanent representative of Malaysia to the World Trade Organization (WTO)
"This is good for me. At least I know what's my problem from my body once she diagnosed me. Yeah, this is a good experience for me."
SOUNDBITE 2 (English): RASHA MOUZAHEM, Wife of Syria's permanent representative to the UN Office at Geneva (UNOG)
"So this event was great. It gave us a very interesting introduction into the traditional Chinese medicine. And then the diagnosis, I just tried the diagnosis, because it was crowded, a lot of people wanted to try. And then, the diagnosis was great. The physician told me stuff that I had real problem with, and she didn't know about it, but her diagnosis was really accurate. So it was really impressing and interesting for me."
