Climate extremists targeted the Emmeline Pankhurst statue in Manchester with calls for the government to halt all extraction and burning of fossil fuels by 2030.

Footage shows the statue of women's rights activist being dressed by Just Stop Oil supporters in a high-visibility vest on October 26, along with a speech bubble that read 'Deeds not words: Just Stop Oil'.

Highway Maintenance workers later removed the political items.

The protest coincided with the release of the UN emissions gap report, which warned of a potential temperature rise of up to 3.1 degrees Celsius under current policies.

Emmeline Pankhurst is a leading British women's rights activist who founded the Women's Social and Political Union (W.S.P.U.), an all-women suffrage advocacy organisation dedicated to 'deeds, not words'.
