This is the moment an underwater water pipe exploded, creating a giant water column shooting up into the sky.

The incident occurred near the Buzhou Ferry in Doumen District, Zhuhai, Guangdong, China, on Tuesday, October 22.

An impressive scene unfolded as the large water column soared dozens of feet into the air.

Footage shows the towering geyser of water, with an onlooker remarking: 'It's like a dragon spouting water.'

The following day, Zhuhai Water Supply Company officials confirmed the incident and explained that it had been caused by a burst in a major water pipeline with a diameter of 2.4 metres.

This pipeline, located near a reservoir, serves as a primary water supply line.

The pipe rupture was reported around 2 pm on Tuesday, and relevant departments were promptly informed to manage the emergency.

Authorities said repair crews were dispatched to fix the broken pipeline, and restoration efforts are ongoing to resolve the disruption.
