Cops launch murder investigation after boy, 17, stabbed to death outside shops
Police have launched a murder investigation after a 17-year-old boy was stabbed to death outside a row of busy shops.
Police and ambulance crews dashed to Station Road in Marston Green, Solihull, West Mids., at around 6.20pm on Tuesday (29/10).
A 17-year-old boy was found with knife injuries and despite frantic efforts to save him he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police arrested a boy, also 17, on suspicion of murder.
The road was closed today (Wed) as police forensic teams conduct a fingertip search of the area.
A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: "We've launched a murder investigation and arrested a teenager following a stabbing in Solihull yesterday evening. "
"We were called to Station Road in Marston Green, Solihull at around 6.20pm on Tuesday."
"A 17-year-old boy was treated for his injuries by the ambulance service, but despite their best efforts he sadly died and a murder investigation has now been launched."
"We have arrested a 17-year-old boy on suspicion of murder and he remains in police custody as our investigation continues. "
"Our thoughts remain firmly with the victim's family and loved ones at this truly tragic time."
Police said more officers will be on patrol in the area over the next few days.
Superintendent Wayne Carter, of Solihull Police, said: "We know people will understandably be concerned and we will be in the area conducting enquiries throughout the day. "
"We will have extra officers in the area over the coming days and I would encourage anyone with any information, or concerns, to get in touch."
"We are reviewing CCTV footage and making enquires and we are also appealing to any witnesses who haven't spoken to us yet, to come forward. "
