An army helicopter crashed killing three people in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The military aircraft reportedly plummeted while flying over the Ndolo Airport in Kinshasa at around 11 am local time on October 30.

Footage shows firefighters hosing down the burning wreckage of the fallen chopper.

Local broadcaster RTNC reported that the pilot died at the scene, while two crew members died at the hospital.

Authorities said the cause of the crash was being investigated.

Plane crashes are fairly common in Congo due to aging aircraft, poor infrastructure, challenging weather conditions, and limited regulatory oversight. Many crashes occur with smaller domestic airlines serving remote regions, which often rely on older planes and have limited maintenance capabilities.
