Nashville, United States - October 29, 2024 A dramatic late-night chase ended in chaos on October 29 when 22-year-old Carlos Esquivel crashed into a Nashville police officer’s patrol car while fleeing a traffic stop, leading to multiple charges against him. The incident unfolded around 1:30 a.m. when Esquivel was stopped for reckless driving in his Dodge Challenger along Korean Veterans Boulevard. Ignoring the stop, he sped onto the westbound lanes of Interstate 24, where he began doing donuts in front of an officer's vehicle with its emergency lights flashing. In a reckless move, Esquivel accelerated toward the patrol car, colliding head-on before attempting to escape up an entrance ramp. The impact resulted in injuries to the MNPD officer, who was promptly taken to an area hospital and later treated and released. Esquivel now faces four serious charges, including aggravated assault on an officer, felony evading arrest, reckless driving, and leaving the scene of a personal injury accident. He is currently held in custody on a $27,500 bond as the investigation continues.
