Chinese woman steps out of home and plunges into basement after cover collapses
On October 24 in Xing'an League, Inner Mongolia, a woman stepped out of her building and instantly fell into a basement ventilation shaft, luckily escaping injury.
According to reports, Ms. Bao was leaving her unit as usual to take her child to school. As she opened the building door and stepped out, she unexpectedly encountered danger: the basement ventilation cover had come loose and fallen off, causing her to plummet over a meter into the ventilation shaft with no warning. Fortunately, Ms. Bao was unharmed in the fall and was quickly rescued by neighbors.
Afterward, Ms. Bao informed property management to repair the loose ventilation cover. Management assured residents that they would increase inspections and maintenance of public facilities to prevent similar incidents in the future.
