Lake Lure, United States - October 30, 2024 Crews at Lake Lure, North Carolina, have started assembling a floating platform to support heavy debris-clearing equipment in the wake of Hurricane Helene’s devastation. Made of interlocking modules, the platform will enable safe and efficient removal of debris scattered across the lake’s surface and shorelines. Led by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in partnership with FEMA and other agencies, the operation is part of a sweeping recovery mission across western North Carolina, where communities are struggling to rebuild after the storm’s destruction.
