Shaoyang, China - September 22, 2024 On September 22, at approximately 12:45 PM, a 9-year-old boy named Zhang was injured in a traffic accident in the Daxiang District of Shaoyang City, Hunan Province. After disembarking from a bus near the Water Conservancy Bureau, Zhang unexpectedly accelerated into the street without properly observing oncoming traffic, leading to a collision with a light truck driven by Li. In a related incident captured on video, a girl is seen running across the street, narrowly avoiding a bus, only to be struck by a truck moving down the road moments later. Authorities determined that Zhang's failure to carefully assess the road conditions was the primary cause of his accident, holding him primarily responsible for the incident. In response to these events, Hunan traffic police are urging parents to educate their children about pedestrian safety, emphasizing the importance of the "stop, look, and cross" approach, and warning against the dangerous practice of abruptly darting into the street.
