Bulgaria: A protest against election fraud was held on „Independence” Square with the slogan "I am 3,999"
Sofia, Bulgaria - October 31, 2024 A protest against election fraud was held on Independence” Square with the slogan "I am 3,999". The organiser was the "Greatness" party, which won 3.999% of the votes against a 4% barrier to enter parliament. They believe that they are victims of manipulation by the electoral administration. They want to cash in the elections. „Velichie“ is a patriotic newly formed political party that managed to win seats for 13 MPs in the previous parliament in the June elections. They believe that the "mafia" was afraid of them and therefore falsified the results. Suspicions were heightened because, the day after the election, national television showed a clip from a polling station in which a member of the election administration filled out ballots and counted them as valid. "Let's take back the country from the mafia," urged Ivelin Mihailov - the leader of the patriotic party. Same day, 31.10, the President of Bulgaria Rumen Radev expressed doubts about the fairness of the elections held on Sunday and the published final results. Radev published a statement in which he admitted that "some politicians enter the parliament by buying votes, threats and racketeering. The president asked the caretaker government for convincing evidence of the integrity of the vote. "There can be neither bought nor forced democracy," the president wrote to the people. This is important because earlier the chairman of the national extermination commission, Rositsa Mateva, said that elections can be canceled if the Constitutional Court is referred. And President Rumen Radev is one of those who can send a signal to the supreme judges.
