Bakersfield, United States - November 02, 2024 11/02/2024 03:50 pm (GMT-0800) BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – On November 2, just before 4 p.m., the Bakersfield Police Department called in for a previous building on fire in the 200 block of Sumner Street. The Bakersfield Fire Department and Kern County Fire were dispatched to the area and requested traffic control. Due to the size of the building and heavy flames and smoke from high winds, the Bakersfield Fire Department upgraded the status of the fire to a 3rd alarm reinforced commercial structure fire. A reporting person who owns a building next door advised when he was leaving around noon, that a male transient asked him for money to protect his building and also to make sure the previous building didn’t catch on fire. Bakersfield Fire Department Arson units responded to investigate the cause of the fire.
