A unique festival, where participants throw cow dung at each other, was held in Kumtapuram village near Thalavadi in South India.
The Shaniyadithi festival takes place every year on the fourth day after Diwali. This year's festivities began at 10 am with special pujas. Earlier, villagers had collected and piled up cow dung behind the temple.
In the afternoon, a sacred call from the nearby pond signaled the start of the dung-throwing event. Over 100 children and youths enthusiastically played with dung balls, hitting each other in a joyful spectacle.
Following a two-hour chanting program, participants bathed in the pond and proceeded to worship Lord Bireswarar at the temple.
Eight tourists from Germany and Hungary, who discovered the festival online, spent two days immersing themselves in the vibrant cultural experience. They actively participated in the festivities, capturing memorable photos and videos.
The tourists expressed their fascination with India's diverse cultural patterns and festivals, stating that they had come to explore and experience the country's rich heritage."
