Philippines: Vessel overturned in the area of Sorsogon Bay Philippines
WHEN: 5:00PM of October 27, 2024, and reported to Sor CPS at about 12:30PM on November 2, 2024; TOR to PTOC: 12:49PM of November 2, 2024 WHERE: Sea Water of Sorsogon City, Brgy. Bucalbucalan, West District, Sorsogon City WHO: Barge Claudia (Sea Vessel) represented by Ms. Vani Luestro, Secretary of Pherwin Shipping Company. WHY: On October 22, 2024, Barge Claudia was reported grounded in the water near Castilla Port and subsequently drifted to Brgy. Bucalbucalan, West District, Sorsogon City last October 27. At approximately 8:50 AM on October 30, the Philippine Coast Guard (CGSS Talisay and Castilla) and Maritime Environment Protection Unit Sorsogon (MEPERU SOR) boarded the M/Tug Vessel and proceeded to assess Barge Claudia’s condition for potential leaks or environmental hazards. The barge remains positioned in Brgy. Bucalbucalan under ongoing monitoring. Sorsogon CPS continuously coordinating with PCG-Sorsogon for updates on the situation.
