In the early hours of November 1, in Xishuangbanna, Yunnan, a wild elephant entered a residential courtyard, causing the homeowner to hurriedly retreat indoors in fear.

Surveillance footage showed the large animal using its trunk to search for food throughout the courtyard. Finding nothing to eat, the elephant eventually left disappointed.

Local forestry station staff explained that as the weather cools, elephants come out to forage. They advised that if an elephant enters a home, residents should avoid turning on lights and seek safety on the second floor or rooftop. Additionally, they recommended not storing foods like corn or pumpkins in courtyards, as these attract elephants. Any damage incurred is covered by insurance.
