Mum stunned after newborn daughter born with matching white hair streak
A mother was left in awe when her newborn daughter arrived with a rare white streak in her hair - perfectly matching her own.
Elma Godwin, 33, has a rare genetic condition called Piebaldism, which causes unpigmented patches of skin and hair.
Elma was born with a distinctive white streak which runs from the middle of her hairline and all the way through her hair.
And September 13, she gave birth to her second child Ani Ludart, who was born with the same unique white streak - mirroring that of her mother.
Elma's older daughter Ari Ludart, two, was born without the trait so it was a complete surprise when Ani arrived with it.
Elma, a media content producer from Dallas, Texas, USA said: "When they placed her on my chest, I was the first to see it. "
"I couldn't believe it her hair had the exact same white streak as mine, in the exact same spot. "
"The nurses and doctors were amazed and everyone at the hospital wanted to see."
"I'd always been the only one in the family with it, so I never expected it."
"It was a complete surprise."
Elma's rare trait has been a source of both struggle and empowerment.
Growing up, she thought she was the only person in the world with Piebaldism.
Elma said: "It wasn't until I was 24 that I found others with it on social media."
"It was such a relief to know I wasn't alone."
Elma has been a advocate for embracing differences, especially for young women with Piebaldism.
She said: "Seeing other people on social media with the same condition helped me accept it and it inspired younger girls, too. "
"I always tell them it's something to be proud of."
Elma's husband, Misan Ludart, 35, owner of an interior design firm, was equally thrilled.
He said: "My wife noticed baby Ani's hair while I was still beaming from cutting the umbilical cord!"
"I was so grateful for a safe delivery, and seeing her hair was an amazing bonus gift."
