Locals near Kamala Harris' ancestral village in India's Tamil Nadu, are praying for her victory in the US presidential election on November 5.

Harris' grandfather grew up in the nearby village of Thulasendrapuram, just 8km south of Mannargudi.

As the U.S. presidential election approaches tomorrow, a special flower prayer ceremony was held in Madurai's S.S. Colony in support of Kamala Harris, who has Indian roots from Mannargudi in Tamil Nadu. Organized by Anushanath's Anukragni, the ceremony featured various rituals, including offerings of flowers and prayers to revered deities such as Kanchi Periyavar, Krishna, Kamakshi Amman, Rama, Murugan, Valli, and Perumal.
Kamala Harris' maternal grandfather, PV Gopalan, was born over a century ago in the village of Thulasendrapuram in Tamil Nadu, southern India. Gopalan and his family migrated a few hundred kilometres to Chennai, the capital of Tamil Nadu, where he worked as a senior government official until his retirement.
