Ocala, United States - October 26, 2024 In a bizarre twist, a man openly warned a Marion County Sheriff’s deputy about his intentions before stealing their police cruiser and leading authorities on a high-speed chase. The Oct. 26 incident began when the deputy responded to a call about suspicious activity, encountering the 41-year-old man who requested medical help and admitted to recent drug use. “You better have your doors locked,” the suspect told the deputy, adding, “I like to steal cars.” Despite the warning, he managed to enter the cruiser and speed away, prompting a pursuit through Marion County. Deputies eventually stopped him with a PIT maneuver, taking him into custody and transporting him to the Marion County Jail.
