Spain - November 04, 2024 The Guardia Civil remains steadfast in its operational efforts to locate missing persons and ensure safety in areas affected by the DANA flooding. With over 4,700 rescues and more than 30,000 assistance calls logged on roadways and properties, the scale of the response is significant. To enhance efficiency, 766 personnel from various units and provinces have been deployed to bolster the response teams in the impacted municipalities. This includes specialists from the Reserve and Security Group, canine units trained in locating missing persons and biological remains, mountain rescue experts, and underwater activity specialists from multiple regions across Spain. Additionally, air support is provided by teams from Madrid, utilizing drones and aircraft, while traffic units from Aragón, Alicante, and other regions assist in managing the crisis. The collaboration extends to the Royal Guard unit and community safety forces from Alicante and Castellón. In a coordinated effort, air service personnel are also working closely with the identification team on the ground to transfer any biological remains found to the central laboratories of the Criminalistics Service for further analysis. The comprehensive response underscores the commitment of the Guardia Civil to protect and assist communities during this challenging time.
