An tourist allegedly abandoned by her furious German boyfriend in a mangrove forest was rescued by police in Thailand.

Sarah, 49, from Bali, Indonesia, reportedly had a row with her German lover Olaf, 48, while they were driving along the Mueang Samut Sakhon district of Samut Sakhon province on November 3.

She claimed he chased her out of the car and she fled into a forest next to the empty dirt road.

Samut Sakhon Provincial Police officers said they received a report from the Highway Police of an Indonesian woman requesting rescue.

Cops, tourist police, and rescuers were dispatched to the rural road lined with trees and dense undergrowth. They blared their sirens, allowing Sarah to locate them.

The holidaymaker was covered in dirt and dried grass as she emerged from the swampy mangrove forest.

She told police Olaf was a German classmate with whom she visited Thailand on vacation. She said they were on a trip in a rented Toyota sedan but his mood allegedly soured after a row with his wife over property on the phone.

She claimed: 'He wanted to hit me with a pan. He brought a pan and a shovel to hit and bury me here. He wanted to do that at 3 or 4 am, so I ran there. And before it was daylight, he ran. I waited until it was safe, then I called police.'

She was taken to the Tha Chalom Police Station to file a report. Bizarrely, she refused to press charges against the German man, and only insisted to be taken to the Suvarnabhumi International Airport to fly back to Indonesia.

Police Senior Sergeant Major Kritsada of the Hua Hin Tourist Police said authorities tracked down Olaf and questioned him.

He said: 'We have summoned the German tourist and learned the details from both sides.

‘We found that the German man and Indonesian woman had an argument, which led to the woman leaving the car on her own, while the man drove away without assaulting her.

'After she was rescued, the Indonesian woman has already returned to her country. The German man was Olaf, 48, and the Indonesian woman was Sarah, 49.

‘Essentially, it was a love affair matter that we misunderstood because we only listened to one side of the story.'
