Exilles, Italy - November 05, 2024 In the early hours of November 5th, a dramatic fire broke out in the Cels motorway tunnel near Torino, engulfing a truck in flames and flooding the tunnel with smoke. Firefighters launched a swift rescue operation, saving seven people trapped inside: a family of five—mother, father, and three children—and the two truck drivers. The trapped individuals took shelter in safety niches within the tunnel until emergency crews could reach them. All were safely evacuated and handed over to medical personnel for treatment. The late-night incident underscores the rapid response efforts by firefighters in Torino province.
