"I'm really impressed by your ancestors. We have many things in common. We are two ancient civilizations. And what I admire today is how well you preserve your past. We must learn from you. This is the big goal, how we communicate and make this (cultural exchanges) bigger and bigger."

The inaugural World Conference of Classics is underway in Beijing from Nov. 6 to 8, 2024, with an "Exploring China" program in Shandong, Henan, and Sichuan.

Organized by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Greece's Ministry of Culture, and the Academy of Athens, the conference's theme, "Classical Civilization and the Modern World," will explore the roots of human thought, promote intercultural exchange, and provide insights to address global challenges while fostering a shared future for humanity.
