Woman sells 1,100 Beanie Babies collection and makes a whopping $4.3k
A woman managed to sell more than 1000 Beanie Babies after a video of her grandmother's collection went viral.
Amanda Dralle, 34, had initially posted the video on TikTok to showcase the mountain of plush toys her grandmother had collected throughout the 90s.
But within days after sharing it, she was flooded with messages from fans eager to own a piece of the iconic 90s craze.
In just two weeks, Amanda sold all 1,100 with each toy priced at $10 and offered a discount for those buying several.
In total she made a whopping £3,3k ($4,3k).
Amanda, a dental hygienist from Gainesville, Georgia, USA, said: "People were so excited to buy them, especially those who'd lost their collections in fires, storms or life changes."
"They shared so many heartfelt stories. "
"It was like they were reclaiming a piece of their childhood."
Amanda's grandmother Mary Lee Gadbois, 77, began collecting Beanie Babies in the mid-90s, initially purchasing them as gifts for her granddaughters.
However, her hobby quickly became a passion with her collecting tubs of the iconic stuffed animals over a decade.
Mary Lee's collection featured everything from common Beanie Babies to rare editions like Chocolate the Moose, Cubbie the Bear and Teddy, Boo the Dog.
Amanda said: "She loved each one but the Manatee meant a lot because it was her first."
"We still have that one because it's so special to her."
Amanda spent over 100 hours managing more than 200 orders and shipping packages nationwide.
Now, her grandmother's lifelong collection has found new homes, and Mary Lee is thrilled.
She said: "I am so happy to see them find new homes."
"I will miss them but seeing them give happiness and love to other people fills my heart with so much joy."
After the sales were complete, Mary Lee insisted that Amanda use the money towards her upcoming wedding.
Amanda said: "I didn't think I'd make a penny and now I have"
£3,312 ($4,300) going towards my wedding.
"So it's a really special thing."
