Jacksonville, United States - November 02, 2024 [WARNING: violent content] The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office has released body camera footage showing confrontations between officers and fans during the University of Florida vs. University of Georgia football game. The footage captures officers engaging with multiple individuals who were ejected from the stadium, revealing moments where officers used physical force, including strikes with closed fists and batons. In one incident, the video shows officers wrestling with Walter Brown, who allegedly pushed a stadium worker after accusing him of trying to kidnap his children. The body cam footage indicates that Brown refused to leave the stadium when asked, leading to the intervention of deputies. During the confrontation, Brown threatened the officers, stating, "Remember, I told you either I’m going to kill a cop or not leave." The sheriff's office reported that officers attempted to place Brown in handcuffs but were met with resistance. Brown allegedly grabbed an officer's gun during the struggle and used a racial epithet against one of the officers, who is Black. Sheriff T.K. Waters held a news conference to discuss the footage, stating that context was largely missing from cellphone videos that had gone viral. He claimed that the videos were circulated by those wishing to advance an anti-police agenda. Four men were arrested in connection with the incidents, identified as Michael Wayne Long, 58, and Alexander Michael Long, 27, both of Orange Park, Florida; Brandon Michael Boley, 42, of Fleming Island, Florida; and Walter Brown, 39, of Callahan, Florida. Charges included battery on an officer, resisting arrest, trespassing, and disorderly intoxication. The released body cam videos aim to provide a clearer understanding of the events that unfolded during the chaotic game.
