United States - November 06, 2024 Republican candidate Donald Trump declared victory in the 2024 U.S. presidential election early Wednesday morning. Speaking at an election night watch party at the Palm Beach County Convention Center in Florida, Trump claimed victory and expressed gratitude to his supporters. He was joined at the event by his family and running mate, J.D. Vance. Fox News projected that Trump would win 277 Electoral College votes. As Trump spoke, no other major U.S. media outlets called the election for him. Democratic candidate Kamala Harris has yet to concede defeat. At least 270 Electoral College votes are needed to clinch the presidency. Trump was elected the 45th president of the United States in 2016. In 2020, he sought reelection but lost in the contest against Joe Biden. He was nominated as the Republican candidate for 2024 presidential election on July 15 of this year.
