Typhoon Yinxing battered homes as it skirted northern Philippines this week.

Footage shows strong winds peeling the roofs off a high school in Buguey town in Cagayan province on November 6.

Heavy rains also lashed houses in Sta. Ana town as locals in coastal areas braced for storm surges.

The storm comes as the archipelago's northern region was still reeling from the effects of Storms Trami and Kong-rey in the last few weeks.

State weather agency PAGASA said Yinxing, locally known as Marce, had slowed down over the sea east of Cagayan province on November 7 morning. It was projected to make landfall in the Babuyan islands on Thursday afternoon or Friday morning, and is expected to weaken as it travels across land.

Signal No. 4, the highest storm warning indicating 'significant to severe threat to life and property', has been raised in the provinces of Cagayan, Apayao, and Ilocos Norte.

The Philippines experiences frequent and intense storms especially during the typhoon season from June to November, due to its location in the Pacific typhoon belt. These storms often bring heavy rain, strong winds, and flooding that cause significant damage to infrastructure, agriculture, and communities.
