This is the terrifying moment a commuter slips onto train tracks while trying to board a moving carriage in India.

Footage shows a girl buying food at a store when the vehicle began to move while she was still completing an online payment.

Unable to finish the transaction, she returned the packet of chips before rushing to board the departing train at Kanpur Railway Station in Uttar Pradesh on November 3.

Ignoring the vendor's warnings, she attempted to board the in-motion train.

She grabbed the door bar but was dragged along as the train picked up speed. She then slipped off the platform and fell onto the tracks.

Onlookers reacted quickly, shouting and urging others to pull the train's emergency chain.

When it finally came to a stop, the crowd worked together to rescue her from the tracks.

Reports said the girl sustained only minor injuries and was quickly taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
