Deliveryman carries mattress on his HEAD as he rides to customer
A deliveryman carried a huge bed mattress on his head as he rode his motorcycle to a customer in Thailand.
Nattawut Boonprasert, 24, delivered the massive cargo bought from a furniture shop on a two-wheeler to a buyer's home in Chachoengsao province on November 6.
Nerve-racking footage shows him driving across the highway with the bedding tied precariously to a delivery box on the pillion seat. It wobbled as Nattawut balanced it on his head while hunched over the motorcycle handlebars.
He safely delivered the mattress to the recipient Samun Hae, 52, after navigating the road bumps and narrow turns toward the neighbourhood some two miles away from the warehouse.
The delighted customer said: 'I bought the mattress from a TikTok live stream for just 2,456 baht (55.56 GBP) because it was at a discounted price.
'I had it delivered because I didn't have a car to pick it up. The delivery was free, but I didn't expect it to arrive on a motorcycle. The driver was quite impressive to have come all the way here safely.'
Samun said she gave Nattawut a 300 baht tip for his efforts.
The courier said: 'When I saw the mattress arrive at the warehouse, I found it hilarious that someone had bought such a large mattress. I thought it would be funny if my friend had to deliver it, but that task fell to me instead.
'I was unsure how I would deliver it since I only have a motorcycle. But I didn't want the customer to have a late delivery, so I asked my friends to tie it on my back.'
Despite being one of the wealthiest countries in Asia, Thailand suffers from chronic underinvestment in its highways and education, contributing to its poor road safety levels. Only a handful of African countries are worse.
Thailand has one of the world's worst road safety records. Ministers have set the goal of reducing fatalities from 32.7 deaths per 100,000 people to 12 per 100,000 people by the year 2027.
