A spooked alpaca attempted to break free during a university track event in China.

Two brown alpacas, led by students from the College of Biological and Food Engineering, paraded across the field during a sports event at Southwest Forestry University in Yunnan, China, on October 31.

Footage shows one of the animals trying to break loose from its handler's grip, while the other alpaca calmly ambles alongside a woman guiding it.

The male student handling the anxious alpaca can be seen struggling to control it as it shakes its head, attempting to escape.

Alpacas, as prey animals, have heightened sensitivity to potential threats. Unfamiliar sounds or movements can trigger a stress response, often causing them to pull away or exhibit avoidance behaviors.
