Wheat Ridge, United States - October 22, 2024 In an inventive but ultimately futile attempt to flee the scene of a crime, a suspect tried to use public transportation as his getaway vehicle. The Wheat Ridge Police Department responded to a theft at King Soopers on Youngfield Street in late October, where they learned the suspect had taken to an RTD bus heading east. Swift action by the officers led them to the suspect just a few stops later, where they apprehended him. The search revealed approximately $222 worth of stolen merchandise and drug paraphernalia in his possession. Additionally, the suspect was found to have an outstanding warrant for theft. The Wheat Ridge Police issued a stern message to would-be criminals: "Stop stealing in Wheat Ridge."
