US: Woman Airlifted to Safety from Cruise Ship off Oahu
United States - November 05, 2024 In an act of valor on November 5, 2024, the Coast Guard stepped into action to save a life 70 miles off the coast of Kaneohe, Hawaii. An MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Barbers Point was dispatched after watchstanders at the Joint Rescue Coordination Center Honolulu received a distress call from the Grand Princess. The call was for urgent medical evacuation of a 29-year-old woman suffering from symptoms suggestive of appendicitis, while the ship was navigating approximately 570 miles northeast of Kauai. The crew successfully hoisted the patient into the helicopter, ensuring she received timely medical attention.
