15 displaced Gazan couples join hearts in vow with assistance from charities
Storyline: Fifteen couples of displaced Gazans have joined hearts in vow with assistance from charities in the war-ravaged enclave despite the devastation caused by Israeli attacks. Before his marriage, 30-year-old Mohammed Al-Loh was busy building and equipping his modest canvas tent in the city of Deir al-Balah in central Gaza, which would be his new home. Among the young Palestinian couples who decided to go ahead with their wedding plans and celebrate new beginnings despite the difficult and exceptional circumstances, Mohammed told China Global television Network (CGTN) that he was tired of waiting. In a precious moment of happiness in the war-devastated coastal strip, Mohammed's family and friends gathered in a simple dance ceremony in the ruins of homes left behind by bombing, bringing joy to the displaced people around them. Charities have funded a wedding ceremony for 15 displaced Palestinian grooms and brides at a displaced persons' camp in Deir al-Balah city. They set up tents for just-married couples to help them start their new lives. "Through this camp, 15 new Palestinian families have been established in light of this grinding war and the deteriorating economic situation, where young people do not find their daily sustenance, as well as they do not find shelter and nothing to complete their marriage with," said Yasser Khattab, director of Community Empowerment Association. The Palestinian Bureau of Statistics indicates that in the ongoing war in the Gaza Strip, more than 40,000 Palestinians were killed, approximately 24 percent of whom were aged between 18 and 29, with the population growth rate decreased by about 2.7 percent in 2023.
