Gaza - November 09, 2024 Storyline: Israel's unrelenting attacks on the Gaza Strip has killed 43,508 Palestinians and injured 102,684 others over the past 13 months since October 7, 2023, according to the enclave's health authorities on Friday. In the past 24 hours, Israel's military operations in the besieged territory killed 39 people and wounded 123 others, according to the Hamas-run health ministry. Israel's bombardments targeting the Fahd Al-Sabah School which shelters displaced people east of Gaza City killed five Palestinians and wounded several others on Friday. An Israeli airstrike on a tent housing displaced families west of Khan Younis in southern Gaza led to three deaths and multiple injuries on Friday night. There is no immediate comment from the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). The Office of the U.N. High Commissioner for Human Rights published a report on Friday, verifying 8,119 people reportedly killed during Israel's war in Gaza as of September 2 this year, and finding out that nearly 70 percent of them were of women and children. On Friday, Israel Katz formally became the new Israeli defense minister in a handover ceremony after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu fired Yoav Gallant on Tuesday night. In a speech, Katz said his goals are to curb Iran, dismantle Hamas, defeat Hezbollah and bring back all the hostages still held in Gaza by Hamas militants.
