An industry insider has said that China has spotted a window period, maybe once in a century, which, if tapped properly, can boost the country's electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing to a new height and help define the global EV market.

Bill Zhuang, president and CEO of Angstrom Electric, a division of Angstrom Automotive Group, made the remarks in an interview with Xinhua in Detroit, U.S. Midwest state of Michigan.

Angstrom Automotive Group is a leading tier 1 full-service supplier for Automotive and Industrial OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturer).

SOUNDBITE 1 (Chinese): BILL ZHUANG, President and CEO of Angstrom Electric
"I can see that China's current automation capabilities are very strong. The Chinese companies have strong abilities in imitation, manufacturing, and integration, and they have a clear advantage in terms of cost. Looking at the original accumulation of technology and the past 20 years of manufacturing development, China has progressed very quickly and is now quite mature."

According to Zhuang, for the vehicle industry, supply chain is the key term.

SOUNDBITE 2 (Chinese): BILL ZHUANG, President and CEO of Angstrom Electric"Through self-development, acquisitions, and other means, the entire automotive supply chain system has been built (in China) in 5 to 10 years, which is definitely a positive development. In terms of scale, technology, and products, (China) has already entered the top ranks of the global supply chain system. So, by fully leveraging the innovation and mindset of private enterprises to invigorate state-owned enterprises, I am confident that China will be very strong in this industry."
