Furious shopper attacks Tiffany store in China
A furious shopper attacked a Tiffany store in China.
Zhou, a 22-year-old woman, reportedly had an argument with her mother inside the store in Chengdu, Sichuan, on November 5, causing her to lose control of her emotions.
Footage shows the suspect using a plant pot to break the display glass in an attempt to try on a necklace.
After throwing a tantrum and driving the staff away, employees reportedly called the police to intervene.
An onlooker said that at one point, Zhou took a necklace from the shattered glass counter and tried it on before confronting staff.
One of the shoppers who witnessed the attack said: 'She was hitting the assistant's ankle with a mirror, smashing the counter glass with a vase, and taking out the jewellery to try it on after she'd broken the glass.'
She was reportedly led away in handcuffs by police, past the mall's Dior store.
The authorities took her into custody and sent her to the hospital for observation.
No one was reported severely injured in the incident, although the store sustained property damage.
Local media reports said that Zhou had recently sought medical treatment for depressive symptoms before visiting the store.
Psychologist Arlin Cuncic said that some evidence suggests serotonergic dysfunction may contribute to both maladaptive anger and major depression.
