Huge crocodile found waiting with its jaws open in family's home
This is the terrifying moment a huge crocodile was found waiting with its jaws open in a family's home in India.
Footage shows the 8ft reptile being removed from a courtyard in Naugachia, Bhagalpur, on November 8.
Reports indicate that the reptile was discovered at the home of the village's deputy head, Rajiv Kumar, on Friday morning, after the evening Arghya of Chhath Puja - a key ritual in the festival where devotees offer prayers to the setting Sun.
The family quickly alerted forest department officials, who responded to the scene.
After about four hours, authorities successfully captured the animal.
In another incident, a 7ft crocodile was found inside a family's house in Lakhimpur Kheri, Uttar Pradesh, on November 2.
Crocodiles are large, semiaquatic reptiles that feed on insects, crustaceans, snails, small fish, frogs, and tadpoles. However, they see humans as easy prey, with an estimated 1,000 people falling victim to these animals each year.
India has two main crocodile species - the saltwater crocodile and the mugger crocodile, which inhabits freshwater rivers.
