A chef revealed his incredible dough figurines shaped like women.

The baker crafted detailed pastry sculptures, dressed in colourful attire and makeup, using dough in Zhejiang, China, on October 30.

Footage shows the sculpted, human-like bread posed lying on the ground, smiling as it gazes upwards.

The artist said: 'Making dough figurines is a traditional folk custom in China. Continuing this tradition is something I am proud of as a baker.'

The craft originated in northern China and is the product of knowledge passed down through generations of artisans. Some dough figurine traditions have even been added to China's list of intangible cultural heritage, including 'Lang's Dough Figurines'.

However, some locals said that the figurines appeared eerie, triggering the 'uncanny valley' effect - a psychological phenomenon describing the unease or discomfort people feel when a non-living object closely resembles a human but lacks complete realism.
