Blackman, United States - November 04, 2024 An unusual emergency unfolded at Arbor North Living on Kingsbrooke Drive when a buck made a startling entrance into a resident's room on the evening of November 4, 2024. At 7:25 p.m., Blackman-Leoni Public Safety officers were called to the scene where staff reported being unable to access the room due to the deer's presence and the possibility of an injured resident. Blood was visible, suggesting the animal was panicked. Officers Luke Bradley and Ryan Martin, upon arrival, first tried to approach from the hallway, observing the buck through the living room's glass patio doors. With these doors locked, and the welfare of the resident unknown, the decision was made to break the glass for immediate entry. The action allowed the deer to escape, albeit not before causing considerable chaos. Inside, they found the 103-year-old resident injured but conscious. She was treated on-site and later transported to Henry Ford Jackson Emergency Room with injuries that were not life-threatening. The deer had initially entered through a closed window in the bedroom, creating further chaos as it tried to find its way out. The incident was captured on Officer Ryan Martin's body camera, showing the deer's escape into the night. After ensuring the resident's safety, the officers searched for the deer, which had likely sought refuge in the nearby woods.
