A motorcycle rider recklessly hanged sideways in his modified bike to show off his tricks.

Footage shows the motorist dangerously leaning backwards while switching lanes to avoid slow traffic in Phuket, Thailand, on November 1.

The unidentified local had no helmet as he rode through the double solid yellow line and sped away on the three-wheeler with a sidecar.

Onlooker Somchai, who was in a car behind, said: 'He could have caused an accident doing that. We drove slowly to keep distance from him.'

Despite being one of the wealthiest countries in Asia, Thailand suffers from chronic underinvestment in its highways and education, contributing to its poor road safety levels. Only a handful of African countries are worse.

Thailand has one of the world's worst road safety records. Ministers have set the goal of reducing fatalities from 32.7 deaths per 100,000 people to 12 per 100,000 people by the year 2027.
